The Beat The Heat (NT) crew from Darwin travelled to Alice Springs weekend Sat 11th September 2010 for the Centre Labour Force and Recruitment NT Meeting #3 for 2010.
On Friday with the assistance of CADRA the team displayed THE HEAT at Dave Douglas Tires (thanks Dave supporter of CADRA) in the morning, the Todd Mall over the lunch hours, and finally Repco (thanks to Gordon and crew) in the afternoon.
With inclement weather threatening on Friday the crew awoke to a clear Saturday, thank goodness.
Weather at ASID was fine, and the whole crew was appreciatively welcomed by everyone. 1300 hours grudge racing commenced and it appeared that THE HEAT had struck problems, its performance lacking and not up to its regular consistent times normally achievable at the Valley.
With the assistance from local racer, Mick Hoey it was ascertained that THE HEAT was struggling to come to terms with ASIDs track altitude, some 560m above sea level.
All in all, the adventure was a worthwhile effort from the dedicated crew particularly the excitement shown when the lights and sirens went on.
In closing BTH would like to thank Ausfuel for their assistance in enabling us to give away $50 fuel vouchers to the following entrants:
Mick Duby - First Time Entrant Bike
Leo Paynter - First Time Entrant Car
Scott Judd - Starlet
Mick Hoey - VY Commodore Ute LS3
Beat The Heat (NT) Inc will, all being well & with the co-operation of CADRA, and other supporters return to Alice Springs next year.
